EUMIND
Europe meets India
In 2008 Euneos started the “Europe Meets India” (EUMIND) action together with schools and educational institutions in Mumbai, India. The number of institutions participating in EUMIND has grown rapidly since then. The networks EUMIND India and EUMIND Europe are responsible for the school contacts.
Coordination of EUMIND includes establishing, monitoring and evaluating school projects, moderating video conferences, participating in exchanges of EUMIND teachers and students, training teachers in Mumbai and in Europe, putting up contacts in new parts of India and in new countries of Europe and participating in meetings and events with international project work on their agenda.
Teachers and students – the makers of the future
Cooperation with schools and educational officials in many countries is, self-evidently, part of our work. In the school year 2011-12 about 1,200 students from India and Europe (mainly from the Netherlands) collaborate in the eJournal projects, guided by their teachers. The teachers and students involved in the EUMIND action are makers of the future on the two continents.
Content and Language Integrated Learning
There are more than 130 schools in the Netherlands obliged by curricula to implement CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in their syllabuses. This means, in practical terms, teaching science and other subjects in the English language, in addition to the native Dutch. English is the language of education both in India and in most CLIL schools of Europe (also in IB schools).
The Dutch CLIL schools are also obliged to make international projects. The EUMIND action of Euneos Corp. offers good opportunities for schools to implement their project duties. This explains why 13 schools from all 17 participating schools of the EUMIND action in the Netherlands are CLIL schools.
As the number of CLIL schools (and also IB and international schools) in the European countries increases, there will be a growing need for authentic learning processes of project-based eLearning such as implemented in EUMIND action. Euneos Corp faces this challenge of future in partnership with other actors.
Opportunities for exchange
Many students of EUMIND schools in India are looking for opportunities to study at universities in the US and the EU. Whenever needed, Euneos acts as a mediator between EUMIND schools and universities.
Euneos Corp. is the legal body of COMP@CT, the Comenius 3 network. The expertise of Euneos trainers is based on practical project-making since the 1990s, contributing a lot to the development of international project work. We have fine references of the best practices of Comenius and other projects in Europe.
